I am a qualified engineer with an honours degree from the University of Southampton (1993), with fifteen years experience in manufacturing in quality and production roles. I have been an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists since 1998.
Before becoming a full time translator, I worked for an engineering company for eight years as a Quality Manager, and I was responsible for the company’s Quality Assurance, Environmental, and Health and Safety Systems which conformed to ISO9001, ISO/TS16949 and IS014001 international standards, and all statutory legal requirements.
Prior to this I spent four years with an automotive manufacturing company as a Supplier Support Quality Engineer. This role included time in Spain spent with suppliers and preparing and translating documentation as required.
I spent three years as a Production Engineer in the electronics/electrical industry after graduating from University.
Before going to University I spent three years in Spain, (Majorca and Alicante) in the Travel and Tourism industry.
My activities outside work include the pursuit of my interest in the Spanish language and culture, and I have recently spent four years completely refurbishing and modernising a house.
